Hoya was born in Busan, South Korea. He dropped out in high school on his first year to pursue his dream as a singer. He auditioned after he dropped out and ended up in his current agency, Woollim Entertainment. He was a former JYP Entertainment trainee.

•He has an older brother who is 2 years older than him, and a little brother who is 5 years younger.

•If he was given his own solo stage, Hoya would hire a female dancer and do a sexy dance for 10 minutes.

•He ripped his pants during INFINITE‘s first performance.

•When he meets someone for the first time he feels like he will become closer to them if they call him his stage name “Hoya” instead of his birth name “Howon“.

•He likes to practice until late into the night. So he oversleeps a lot.
